Long Toe Kinsey

Apparently, Kinsey has an extraordinarily long big toe. When I remove her socks, there are gasps heard around the world. I am going to take a picture of it and post it....although I might need a wide-angle lens (ha ha).....and I'm not sure I'll be able to fit the whole thing on here, it's so big. I guess all kids need to be famous for something. Aliya used to be known for her long hair, now she's cut it off to donate it to kids with cancer......Could we do the same with Kinsey??? Donate part of her toe (does she really need all that toe??) to kids who suffer from stubby toe syndrome??? As her Auntie Shelley says, maybe she will be a ballerina. She will be the only one who doesn't need the ballet slippers. She can balance herself and a few other dancers on her toe. Perhaps we will need to get her some protection for her toe since something that big is bound to be a hazard. We may have to get special shoes made. Poor girl. In school she'll be know as "Big Toe". At least she's cute.....

Attack of the huge mutant big toe. We'll have to change "This little piggy". This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast beef, and this little piggy had none. And this giant piggy destroyed sixteen houses on the way home.


Erin is momentarily stunned after viewing her cousin's toe. It would continue to haunt her for most of her first year. She may never get over the toe envy. Perhaps Ronco makes some kind of spray on toe enhancer for the "small toed" girl. Maybe a push-up sock? Water-filled shoes??? Silicone toe implants??? Perhaps she'll start painting her toes to enhance them, make up for their lack of length. Maybe she'll meet a "small-toe" man one day. Or maybe she'll wear big, oversized shoes to hide what she's lacking in the foot area. I can only imagine how small Ronald McDonald's toes are. He's clearly overcompensating with those red shoes. But Erin will probably just learn to accept that everyone has different sized toes, and she has to stop comparing her toes to Kinsey's. Or Kinsey will have toe-reduction surgery. Or Erin will have a sudden toe-spurt in her teens. Who knows what the future will bring.

Kinsey and the Fandamily

Kinsey is having a great time with all her Ontario rellies. This is a picture of her playing with Auntie Christine. What the heck is she doing with her leg??? It looks like an antenna. If I tried to do that with my leg I'd be in traction for the next few months.

Ahhhh.....The Sweet Sound of Silence

Ontario just got a little cuter

Well, here we are in Ontario. We had a great flight, with all three seats to ourselves and flight attendants who thought Kinsey was just about the cutest thing they had ever seen. They held her when I went to the bathroom. She slept twice on the plane, and was nice enough to be sleeping when I had lunch. She was a perfect little angel on the plane, which made the flight so much nicer for everyone.

Here's Kinsey trying to figure out how to get the wood into the fireplace. Luckily for us, she has yet to be successful. She is also completely uninterested in climbing up the stairs, so for now we don't have to baby-proof the up part of the stairs.

Here's Kinsey being manhandled by her Grandma Patti. Grandpa and Grandma Patti are absolutely smitten with her. She has been really laid back, but unbelievably chatty for the few days we have been here. I have actually had lots of sleep, I guess because I'm not up late at night doing all the things that need to be done at home.

Sisters

When I was pregnant with Kinsey, Aliya really wanted me to have a boy. She said first of all that she didn't want Steve to be the only boy in the family (poor Steve). She also figured that everyone already had a daughter/grand-daughter/niece/great-grand-daughter and that there should be a boy in the family. Well, as you can all clearly see, that did not happen. But now that Aliya has a little sister (and a brother from another mother :-) ), she is really happy that Kinsey is a girl. I am also thrilled, because I always wanted a sister when I was younger, and I think there's something really special about the bond between sisters. I've had to be happy with my quasi-sisters (all my wonderful sis-in-laws), and I guess Robyn is the closest I will get to a sister (and I drive her nuts, so I think I'm doing my sisterly duty). I love watching Aliya and Kinsey together. It makes me smile all the way down to my toes!

Locks of Love

Today Aliya got her hair cut. But it wasn't any ordinary cut. She decided she wanted to donate her hair to children who have Cancer. Here is what she looked like before the cut:

Here is her getting her hair cut. They had to cut a minimum of 8 inches off. I think they cut off 10.

Here is the finished cut. She looks amazing. I always knew she would look beautiful no matter how long or short her hair was. I thought she would have tears over the cut, but it was actually me who was crying. I am so proud of her!
